Day 11: Shop Local WPG – Online Directories

November 30, 2020

Over the last several months we have seen the need to support local grow exponentially, and during the holiday season, this need continues to grow. For our second last day of Shop Local WPG – #ChamberCheer, we are highlighting three amazing businesses who’s sole purpose is to highlight local makers. Making it easy to discover Winnipeg makers and small businesses.

Check out all three to find inspiration, shop different makers and purchase curated boxes.

GoodLocal:

GoodLocal is a commission-free online directory that features 100+ local vendors where all revenue goes back to makers this holiday season. This past week they have seen an influx of new vendors and orders. Some product has even SOLD OUT: their dream for every GoodLocal business. They recently had to move into a new warehouse to support the massive increase in orders. Last week alone they had over 700 orders to deliver!

Over the past few weeks they have put $100,000 back into the pockets of all of the amazing local vendors on the GoodLocal platform. They’re currently looking for part-time staff to help with delivery and more. Delivery is only $5. Due to the overwhelming support from the community, they have paused orders and plan to resume on December 7.

Made Here:

Made Here is the place to find premier handmade products and designs from a selection of Manitoba makers and artisans. A portion of all proceeds support Manitoba children’s charities. In 2019, they raised $20,000 for four Manitoba charities: The Dream Factory, Snowflake Place, Art City, and Junior Achievement MB. Made Here is made possible by Vantage Studios, Bentall GreenOak, and The Richardson Centre, and by the amazing creative collaborators and volunteers that make up the Made Here Team. Check out some of their incredible curated local gift boxes available for purchase on their website! They also currently have 15% off orders of $150 or more!

LoveLocalMB:

LoveLocalMB showcases quality Manitoba made food and beverage products and their makers, including some of our featured businesses HeyRu, East India Company and Little Brown Jug!

LoveLocalMB’s normal event is recognized as one of Manitoba’s premier food and beverage events where you can experience a fun, vibrant evening that is filled with live music, delicious food and beverages to sip and savour! Although they had to pause this year, their physical location at St. Vital Centre remains open for business under reduced hours and products, but ALL ITEMS ARE AVAILABLE ONLINE for delivery and pick up. They are offering weekly delivery to Winnipeg on Fridays. Free delivery on orders over $75. Minimum order of $35. They are now offering online gift cards!
