Day 7: Shop Local WPG – Nonprofits

Today is Day 7 of Shop Local WPG, we are more than half way over our 12 Days of #ChamberCheer! Today we are focused on the non-profit sector in Winnipeg! This year we encourage you to not only support local businesses, but also the non-profits working to better our community. This coming Tuesday, December 1 is #GIVINGTUESDAY and we encourage you to donate and support these six organizations doing some pretty amazing work.


Snowflake Place:

They are a charitable non-profit organization that offers a central service model for victims of child abuse. They provide a safe, child-friendly and supportive environment where young victims are interviewed as part of a formal investigation into allegations of child abuse. Winnipeg Humane Society:

A community service organization committed to protecting animals from suffering, and to promoting their welfare and dignity. They are a non-profit registered charity funded primarily through donations and events. Food Matters MB:

Food Matters Manitoba is building a province where good food nourishes strong communities and healthy people. Green Action Centre:

Green Action Centre’s primary areas of work are green commuting, composting and waste reduction, sustainable living and resource conservation. United Way of Winnipeg:

Responding directly to the greatest needs in their community, and with the insights of Winnipeggers, they have a plan to increase help for kids and their families so there are more kids entering school ready to learn, more kids graduating high school, fewer families living in poverty and more families able to stay together.
