EY’s Entrepreneur Of The Year (EOY) nomination season is in full swing. It’s a time when EY looks to celebrate Canada’s best innovators across the country. The nomination period for the 2017 awards is open until April 28, and EY needs your help finding our region’s most inspiring entrepreneurs.
An essential component of Canada’s — and Manitoba’s — economy, entrepreneurs dare to take risks and overcome tremendous obstacles to bring their innovative products and processes to market. The vision, energy and creativity behind these innovations create the jobs that keep our economy prosperous. That’s why EY has celebrated these risk-takers nationally and internationally for more than 20 years.
As proven by the impressive list of past finalists, the entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well in Manitoba, across a range of sectors. In 2016, the innovators behind RTDS Technologies won top honours in the Technology and Communications category. Other 2016 finalists from this province included Walt Morris of the Walt Morris Group of Companies; Elmer Hildebrand of Golden West Broadcasting Ltd.; Albert Friesen of Medicure Inc.; and Brent Clegg of the FWS Group of Companies. Previous local winners include:
- Mike Fata of Manitoba Harvest Hemp
- Michael Legary of Seccuris Inc.
- Jean-Pierre Parenty of Parenty Reitmeier Translation Services
- Laurie Goldberg of People Corporation
- Henry Friesen of Convey-All Industries Inc.
- The Richardson family for the inaugural Family Business Award of Excellence
“Being named an EOY finalist or winner is a game-changer for companies and their leaders,” says Joe Healey, EY’s Entrepreneur Of The Year Leader in Winnipeg. “Not only does the business enjoy national recognition, the program connects finalists and winners to an exclusive network of this country’s most influential and innovative business leaders.”
EY is eager to ensure Manitoba has a strong showing in the 2017 Awards Program. Find out more about the program, and get those nominations in! This year, there’s a particular emphasis on encouraging nominations of women entrepreneurs.
