The fundraiser is being held in conjunction with The Winnipeg Chamber’s annual State of the City Address with Mayor Brian Bowman, who is a passionate advocate for the social issues of poverty of homelessness in his hometown of Winnipeg.
”I’ve been very passionate about making Winnipeg a more inclusive city, one that aims to remove barriers for all Winnipeggers,” Bowman says. “For Winnipeg to truly become a Winnipeg for all, we have to look at ways to give those in need a helping hand up. We accomplished a lot but we have much, much more work to do and I encourage all Winnipeggers to play a part.
“The United Way is one of Winnipeg’s most important charitable organizations. This holiday season, I encourage Winnipeggers to consider making a donation because the United Way is the largest non-governmental funder of the volunteer sector and social services in the entire country. They’ve been a strong partner on a number of initiatives, including the United Way’s Plan to End Homelessness and are doing great work across our community.”
