The Gallery Shop is thrilled to present a sales exhibition of sculpture and wall hangings by three Inuit artists all from the same family.

Meet the artists at the opening reception October 10, 6-9pm

George Arlook was raised in both Arviat and Rankin Inlet, and now lives in Winnipeg. He began carving at the age of ten and was inspired by his father Aiyarani and elder carvers John Kavik and John Tiktak. Arlook works in the traditional manner (without power tools) and is known for his abstract carvings.

Alex Alikashuak grew up in Whale Cove and, like his cousin Arlook, now resides in Winnipeg. Working predominantly with soft stone, Alikashuak learned to carve at an early age from Tiktak, Kavik, and Arlook.

Celina Iootna lives in Arviat, Nunavut, where she was born and raised. Iootna is the sister of Arlook and has been sewing wall hangings for many years. Her joyous scenes are created in duffle, felt, and thread.

We thank Peter Harman of Inuit Stone for making this exhibition possible.
